Intimate Wedding at The Peninsula Hotel | Cape May

Cape May wedding portrait against foliage

Kelly and Greg’s wedding at The Peninsula Hotel in Cape May, New Jersey, was a classic case of ‘best-laid plans go awry, but hey, let’s make the best of it!’ Originally set for a destination wedding, fate had other plans, and they pivoted to a local, intimate celebration that was every bit as charming and heartwarming.

Despite the change in plans, their spirits weren’t dampened. Instead, they turned their local wedding into a celebration that was perhaps more personal than they could have ever planned.

Engagement Session

Before the big day, we kicked things off with a mini photo session at the Harrisburg Capitol Building. It was a fun, laid-back afternoon, perfect for breaking the ice and snagging some romantic save-the-date shots. From the onset, it was clear that this couple was all about embracing the moment. Their vibe was infectious – a mix of excitement, a hint of nerves, and an overwhelming sense of joy. That energy translated seamlessly into their wedding day.

Wedding Day Splendor

Come their wedding day, The Peninsula at King’s Grant Boutique Hotel was decked out in all its autumnal glory. The place is a gem – classy without being over-the-top. The backyard, where the ceremony was held, had this whole secret garden feel to it, complete with a bamboo forest that made for a gorgeous backdrop as they said their ‘I dos.’ It was like Mother Nature herself had RSVP’d ‘Yes’ and decided to show off a bit.

The intimate setting of the hotel, nestled in the heart of Cape May, provided a cozy ambiance that was both inviting and beautiful on camera. The reception took place in the Peninsula’s restaurant Provence, decked out in crystal chandeliers and French-inspired accents.

The wedding party rocked a color scheme that could only be described as autumn-meets-vineyard-chic . We’re talking merlot, blush, black, and white. It was elegant but not stuffy, stylish and low-key. Kelly looked absolutely stunning, and Greg looked picture perfect in his tux!

The pair cut a fine figure as they drifted around the grounds with me, taking pictures in gazebos, and gardens, living up every minute of each other before the big moment.

Saying I Do

The ceremony in the hotel’s backyard was a testament to the beauty of simplicity. The bamboo forest provided a unique, almost magical backdrop. As they exchanged vows, the rustling of the bamboo leaves added a serene soundtrack to the already picturesque scene.

Decor-wise, the reception was a blend of classic elegance and relaxed comfort. Candlelit tables set a romantic mood, while the greenery and white decor added a touch of sophistication. Think romantic dinner under the stars, but with all your favorite people. It was a simple and heartfelt setting that echoed the tone of the day.

Despite the last-minute venue switcheroo, there wasn’t a hint of stress in the air. It was all about celebrating their love, and you could feel that energy everywhere. The intimate setting meant that every laugh was heard, every tear seen, and every dance move noticed.

A Circle of Support

Kelly and Greg’s connection with their guests was truly palpable. The small guest list meant more intimate interactions, more shared jokes, and more personal stories. This wasn’t just a gathering; it was a close-knit celebration where every person played a significant role in their narrative.

Capturing Kelly and Greg’s big day was like being part of a close-knit group where everyone’s just happy to be there. From the heartfelt vows to the impromptu dance-offs as the night wore on, every moment was genuine and full of joy.

It was one of those days where everything just clicked – literally and figuratively.

As the celebration wound down, it was clear that while this might not have been the destination wedding they initially planned, it was perfect all on its own. The Peninsula at Kings Grant provided a chic, picturesque setting that hosted an unforgettable celebration of love.

In the end, Kelly and Greg’s wedding was a beautiful reminder that sometimes, going with the flow leads to the most extraordinary experiences. It was a day filled with laughter, love, and a touch of serendipity, proving that the best stories often have a twist or two along the way.
